Finding the right moving company

Let’s face it. No one wants to align with a shady moving company especially when they are risking not only their money but their household items. The sad reality is that while there are some honest and professional people who run moving companies, there are others who are in it to overcharge you without delivering what they promise. At the end of the day you can truly find a good moving company but there is a process you must endure before the right one is realized. If you are in no hurry to move, it is recommended that you adhere to a few guidelines that we provide here which would save you money, time and of course unwanted stress.

When searching around for local moving company, you want one that you can trust and one who would bend backwards for you. There are some moving companies out there that would negotiate everything with you in order to come up with a final price that you both agree on. You also want to align yourself with a company that can meet all your moving needs. So if you require the movers to pack and unpack your items, let this be known. In addition if you need the company to provide you with storage services, you should also say so during your screening process of these companies.

Moving experts would tell you that you should sign up with the company that can meet all your moving needs and still stay within your moving budget. Price and service are two things that would help to separate a good moving company from a bad one but the vehicles that are being used for the move can also make or break a deal. Without having the trained eye of a mechanic, you may think that the vehicles used for transporting your items may be in good condition when it is not. If your new moving company would have it, request that they provide you with information about the vehicle’s last evaluation from the mechanic shop. Or you can take a mechanic with you to check out the body work of the vehicle specifically zooming in for rusts and checking to see if the tray is durable and big enough to transport your household items.

Of course references from past clients of the moving company would help you out in a big way. And you can take things even further by checking with the Better Business Bureau to confirm the legitimacy and good or bad practices and complaints of the moving company.

Moving with plants

House plants can really add depth and a level of comfort to any home. Even plants that adorn your front lawn serve as the perfect welcome mat for those who drop by. Unfortunately when it comes to moving to another home, the plants are the first things to go as they find new homes with the neighbors and friends.

Those who leave plants behind do so because of how fragile and not to mention stressful they are to relocate. No one wants to move a plant that looks healthy one minute and then wilted and yellow the next as soon as the plants get to the other location. Not to mention replanting can also be a difficult chore especially when you have other items in your home to relocate.

Thankfully there are ways in which you can safely move your plants to the new location and have it looking as the first day you bought them home. For those who are moving outdoor plants to another state, you would first have to gain approval from the Department of Agriculture. The reason for this is that plants do not only carry diseases but they also make great homes to bugs as well. And since it can easily infect other plants when replanting in new soil, the Department of Agriculture would first need to check your plants to make sure that they are safe for moving.

When moving house plants on the other hand the physical aspect to relocate is much easier as you can basically load it in your car and drive to your new location. What is recommended though is that you sterilize the potted soil. To sterilize the potted soil you would first have to take to mix at least five cups of soil with one cup of water in a roasting bag. Without tying the bag’s top, placed it on a baking sheet on low temperature. Insert a meat thermometer in the bag and get the soil to get to 170 degrees before you turn down the heat some more. The temperature should not exceed 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you are not up to experimenting with sterilizing your soil, you can always take your plants to a nursery where they would be checked out for insects and of course get the soil sterile. Moving experts also recommend that you transport your plants in plastic containers rather than ceramic pots so it can fit comfortably in moving boxes.
